I am an aerospace engineer by training. What I think is really exciting is systems engineering—making machines that use a diverse array of components. I approach systems engineering from the typical aerospace disciplines of thermodynamics, propulsion, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, and controls. What I really like to dig into are the multidisciplinary problems, which I typically approach using optimization.
My research time was spent investigating high-speed jet combustion, propulsion, control, and optimization of hypersonic airplanes. I also studied data graphics, presentation, and speaking. In my industrial career I have been particularly interested in the subject of fostering innovation. I’ve worked on developing prototypes from scratch based on direct analysis and numerical optimization, and managed small teams directly at the project level in order to implement those prototypes in the lab.
I hope to present myself as a multi-faceted person—an expert in my area of study, but one with many interests and a student of many fields. You can take a look at the rest of my site to see the rest of my portfolio.
